Wire Fencing to Keep a Cat in the Yard

Normally, cat owners are presented a choice. They can keep the cat indoors or risk all sorts of disasters by letting in run free. Is there wire fencing to keep a cat in the yard?

Wire Fencing for Cat

Cat owners understand that cats are very strange and independent creatures. If they get outside they are going to go there own way and keeping them confined is not easy. Whereas a dog can be leashed, this is not possible for a cat. They are not much slowed by most types of fencing either. They have remarkable climbing and acrobatic ability and easily go over most types of fences. There are certain types of wire fencing to keep a cat safely in the yard.

The wire fencing that will keep a cat confined is thin and flexible mesh fencing. This is because cats hate to climb on wobbly things such as the mesh wire. The design of the cat fencing is such that even if the cat determines to overcome his aversion to the mesh, the wire is angled downward at the top. This deposits the cat right back into the yard. Some commercial type mesh fencing companies call this curved type arrangement a “Houdini proof” fence.

Cats have a tendency to wonder off for days at a time. They often return in a family way if they are female and torn and bleeding if they are male. They do not seem to have the proper respect for automobiles. In short, when your cat wanders away, he is likely to meet with some sort of trouble. Many cat owners resort to keeping their cats inside because of this.

However, many cats love the outdoors and are much happier when they get a chance to spend some time there. The wire mesh cat fencing is one way of insuring they will stay in the yard. The fencing is easy to install and can be easily removed if you move. It can be put in front of existing fencing to create an enclosure for the cat. It is also virtually invisible and so does not detract from the visual appeal of your yard.

In many cases, the cat will make a few attempts to get out of the yard by climbing the mesh fence despite their dislike of it. However, as the curved top deposits them back to the ground, they soon give up and accept the fact that the yard is, after all, a good place to hang out. For a minor investment the cat’s owner not only protects it from harm, but gives some peace of mind to themselves.
